About the residency
La Maldita Estampa is an independent print studio and gallery located in Barcelona's Poble-sec neighborhood. Founded with a commitment to contemporary printmaking, it operates as a hybrid space: a professional workshop equipped for etching, lithography, screen printing, and relief, alongside a gallery that hosts exhibitions and artist residencies. The residency program, offered seasonally, invites artists to develop projects that engage with print media, whether through traditional techniques or expanded practices. The ethos is rooted in material experimentation, collaborative exchange, and the belief that printmaking remains a vital, evolving language within contemporary art.

Planning your application
Artists interested in the residency should first review the program details on the website, noting the seasonal application windows. Proposals should articulate a clear project that engages with print media, whether in technique or concept, and demonstrate how the studio's resources will be utilized. Include a concise artist statement, current CV, and a portfolio of recent work. Given the studio's hands-on nature, evidence of prior printmaking experience or a strong rationale for exploring the medium is beneficial. Applications are reviewed by the studio team; selected artists are expected to be self-directed and to contribute to the studio's communal atmosphere. For international applicants, it is advisable to clarify visa and shipping logistics early in the process.
