About the residency

Round Them Oranges is a nomadic curatorial initiative that operates at the intersection of contemporary art and high-altitude landscapes. Founded with the ethos of fostering artistic dialogue in remote and extreme environments, the project organizes residencies, exhibitions, and encounters that challenge conventional studio practices. Its flagship program, 'Ladakh — Closer to the Moon,' invites artists to engage with the unique cultural and geographical context of the Himalayas, emphasizing process, site-responsiveness, and community exchange over finished objects. The initiative is less an institution than a platform for experimentation, where the journey and the dialogue often take precedence over the final presentation.

Planning your application

Artists interested in participating should follow the project's Instagram account for open calls and updates. Proposals are typically solicited via email or online forms, with a focus on how the artist's practice aligns with the specific thematic and environmental conditions of the location. Given the remote nature of the residencies, applicants should demonstrate adaptability, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine interest in engaging with local communities and landscapes. There is no formal application cycle; opportunities are announced ad hoc, so timely response and a clear, concise project proposal are advised.
