About the residency
The Musicians' Union (MU) is a UK trade union representing over 30,000 musicians across all genres and career stages. Founded in 1893, it has long been a cornerstone of the music profession, advocating for fair pay, contractual rights, and industry standards. Its core mission is to protect and advance the interests of musicians through collective bargaining, legal support, and professional development. The MU's Open Call to Perform at the Inaugural Showcase Festival is an extension of this mission, offering members a platform to present their work in a supportive, industry-facing context.

This open call is exclusively for MU members. Ensure your membership is current before applying. Prepare a concise artist statement, links to recent performances, and a clear indication of how your work aligns with the festival's theme. The selection process prioritizes musical quality and professional readiness, so present your materials with the same care you would for a paid engagement. Deadlines are strict, and late or incomplete applications are not considered.
