About the residency
Yasmine Laraqui Studio is an independent creative space based in Casablanca, Morocco, dedicated to visual production, artistic research, and cultural programming. Founded by artist and writer Yasmine Laraqui, the studio functions both as a production space and a platform for experimentation at the intersection of contemporary art, visual media, and emerging cultural practices. The studio develops projects that include photography and video production, curatorial initiatives, exhibitions, and an international artist residency program. Through these activities, the studio aims to support dialogue between local and international artistic communities while encouraging research-driven artistic practices. Located in Casablanca, one of North Africa’s largest and most dynamic cities, the residency invites artists to engage with the cultural, social, and urban environment of the region while developing new work or research. Yasmine Laraqui Studio seeks to provide artists with a supportive environment for experimentation, reflection, and exchange, while contributing to the development of independent cultural initiatives in the city. The Yasmine Laraqui Studio Residency offers artists the opportunity to live and work in Casablanca while developing new ideas and artistic projects in an independent creative environment. The residency is designed as a period of research, experimentation, and cultural immersion. Artists are encouraged to explore the city, engage with its artistic and urban landscape, and use their time to develop new work, research, or conceptual investigations. The program is open to artists working across disciplines, including visual arts, photography, installation, multimedia practices, and research-based approaches. Residents are provided with accommodation and access to a working space. At the end of the residency, artists have the opportunity to present their work, research, or artistic process through an exhibition or public presentation organized by the studio. The residency particularly welcomes artists interested in engaging with contemporary cultural dynamics, urban environments, and evolving relationships between art, technology, and society. Through exhibitions and informal exchanges, the residency aims to foster dialogue between international artists and the local creative community in Casablanca.
