The aim of the Programme is to enrich Rijeka's cultural scene. During their stay in Rijeka the creators will both work and participate in Rijeka's cultural life: give lectures in schools, faculties, socialize with local artists, participate in public debates, events, readings, etc. Creators will be given opportunity to address current issues, and promote art and culture as an important part of social and public life, as well as a creative process that enriches the lives of all of us. The programme will also be an opportunity for various cultural organizers to devise and carry out residency programmes for foreign creators, in other words to introduce and include them into the artistic and cultural life of the city. The programme's aim is to be a catalyst for creating vivid and active artistic and cultural scene in Rijeka, to continuously re-examine the city's identity and address current issues. It is particularly expected to stimulate the formation of Rijeka's urban identity, strengthen the cultural specificity of the city and connect artistic and cultural life of Rijeka with other European and world centres.

Residents have the opportunity to create new situations, narratives and collaborative projects, based on the experiences of a cultural exchange occurred during each investigation. Residents also get the chance to share their work in public events, usually hosted in one of our peer art-spaces in the City. The main goal of the Lab is to offer a critical and creative platform that can inform your regular art-practice while considering the context of Mexico City and its Valley. Via a collaborative hosting, this residency works with the engagement of other independent art-spaces, peers. We want to sustain a fair art- mobility, while bringing artists from around the globe that can also be relevalnt in the exchange of art making as knowlange with the local art practicioners that are part of our community. Initiated in 1998, the land (more direct translation from Thai to English would be, the rice field) was the merging of ideas by different artists to cultivate a place of and for social engagement. Though initially the action to aquire the rice fields were initiated by two artists from Thailand, the land was initiated with anonymity and with out the concept of ownership. The land was to be cultivated as an open space, though with certain intentions towards community, towards discussions and towards experimentation in other fields of thoughts. The foundation aims to promote and support artistic and cultural activities, natural farming, and self-knowledge through the Vipassana meditation techniques.
