About the magazine

Founded in 2003 by poets Deborah Ager and John Poch, 32 Poems is a literary journal that publishes exactly 32 poems per issue. The magazine was established with a commitment to formal excellence and emotional resonance, aiming to present a concise, carefully curated selection of contemporary poetry. Its founding ethos emphasizes the power of brevity and precision, offering readers a focused encounter with each poem. Over two decades, 32 Poems has maintained a biannual print schedule, featuring both emerging and established voices, and has become a respected venue for poetry that values craft, clarity, and depth.

Editorial focus

32 Poems publishes inventive language complicated by music, form, and feeling. As a rule, the editors publish shorter work that can fit on a single page (32 lines or less), but they sometimes makes exceptions to accommodate particularly exciting poems that run a little longer.
