Editorial focus
Each issue of 3cents will rotate around a theme and will feature one poem, one short story or flash fiction piece, and one piece of creative nonfiction together as a mini collection built around that theme. While the authors each receive individual credit, their pieces are linked by a shared tone, theme, style, sense of whimsy, imagery, or other unifying or complicated relationship.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, read several issues to understand the magazine's aesthetic, which favors raw, vivid, and risk-taking work over conventional forms. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately if your piece is placed elsewhere. Include a brief third-person bio and note any content warnings. Response times vary from two weeks to three months; query politely after three months. The editors appreciate cover letters that are concise and personal, and they encourage submissions from writers of all backgrounds, especially those who have been historically excluded from literary spaces.
We respond to work that has something to say and that interprets our quarterly theme in unexpected ways.
