Editorial focus
The Acentos Review publishes poetry, fiction, memoir, interviews, translations, and artwork by emerging and established Latinx writers, artists, and creatives four times a year. It welcomes submissions in English, Spanish, Spanglish, Portuguese, and indigenous languages. Reviews, interviews, and translations are the only areas in which it publishes those who do not identify as Latinx themselves.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, carefully review the journal's submission guidelines on their website, noting that they accept work in both English and Spanish, as well as bilingual pieces. They typically read submissions during specific reading periods, so check their schedule to avoid missing deadlines. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify them immediately if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief bio that highlights your cultural background and writing experience, as this helps contextualize your work. While they welcome experimental and hybrid forms, ensure your submission aligns with their mission of amplifying Latinx and Indigenous voices. Proofread meticulously, as they receive a high volume of submissions and attention to detail can make your work stand out.
Read the submission guidelines closely. All those who submit are required to answer the prompt: “Being Latinx means ...” Submissions without these statements must be declined.
