About the magazine

Anemone Magazine is an independent literary and arts publication founded in 2018 by a collective of writers and artists. It emerged from a desire to create a space for work that is formally adventurous, emotionally resonant, and unafraid of ambiguity. The magazine publishes poetry, short fiction, essays, and visual art, with a particular interest in cross-genre and hybrid forms. Its mission is to foster a community of readers and writers who value craft, risk, and the slow attention that serious art demands.

Editorial focus

At Anemone , the editors’ mission is to provide a welcoming and safe space for young writers to explore their identities and express themselves through their unique stories, no matter the form. They believe that every voice matters, and through creativity and storytelling, individuals can connect with others and find their place in the world. They publish just about any type of writing and art form, and are always looking to increase the type of content they publish.

Before submitting, read several issues to understand the magazine's aesthetic. Anemone favors work that takes risks and resists easy categorization. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with your submission, and ensure your contact information is current. Response times vary, but the editors aim to reply within three months. For visual art, submit high-resolution images and a corresponding list of works.
