About the magazine

Axon: Creative Explorations is an online, peer-reviewed journal based at the University of Canberra that publishes scholarly and creative work exploring the processes, pedagogies, and poetics of creative writing. Founded in 2011, it emerged from a desire to bridge the gap between creative practice and critical inquiry, positioning itself as a forum where writers and scholars can examine the generative conditions of literary art. The journal is committed to advancing knowledge about how creative writing is taught, practiced, and theorized, with a particular emphasis on the Australasian and international contexts.

Submitting your work

Reading periodVaries

Before submitting, carefully review the current call for papers and ensure your work aligns with the journal's focus on creative writing processes and pedagogy. Axon welcomes both scholarly articles and creative pieces that engage critically with the theme. Submissions should be original, well-argued, and formatted according to the journal's style guide. Expect a double-blind peer review process, so remove identifying information from your manuscript. Simultaneous submissions are generally not accepted, and the journal charges no submission fees.
