Editorial focus
Beltway Poetry (formerly Beltway Poetry Quarterly) is an award-winning online literary journal that showcases poetry from all over the world. It also features translations and reviews. During the first 20 years of its existence, it featured poetry from the literary community in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region. Under new leadership, the journal will always look fondly on the poetry of Washington, D.C. and the surrounding region, but its focus now is unabashedly global.
Submitting your work
Beltway Poetry welcomes submissions from poets with a connection to the Washington, D.C. region, though it also considers work from outside the area if it resonates with the journal's thematic focus. Before submitting, familiarize yourself with the journal's aesthetic, which tends toward accessible, well-crafted poetry that engages with place, community, and personal experience. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Include a brief bio and cover letter. Response times vary, so patience is advised.
