Editorial focus
Bloodletter is a biannual feminist horror magazine publishing personal and analytical perspectives on the horrific by women, trans, and nonbinary writers. Bloodletter offers an exploratory space for writers to share their lived experiences of horror and the theoretical implications of the genre through fiction, nonfiction, film critique, interviews, and poetry. A featured artist is selected to illustrate each issue, resulting in an unconventional multidisciplinary digital platform that offers new and vital perspectives on the horror genre.
Submitting your work
Bloodletter accepts submissions via email during biannual reading periods, typically announced on their website and social media. They seek poetry, short fiction, and hybrid text-image pieces that push boundaries; conventional narrative arcs or sentimental verse are unlikely to fit. Before submitting, read at least one full issue to understand their aesthetic. Include a brief cover letter with your submission, but avoid lengthy bios. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately if accepted elsewhere. Response times vary from two weeks to three months. Payment is in contributor copies and a small honorarium for print issues.
