About the magazine

Busted Halo is an online magazine and media ministry founded in 2000 by the Paulist Fathers, a Catholic religious order. Its mission is to engage spiritually curious young adults with questions of faith, culture, and meaning through a contemporary, non-dogmatic lens. While rooted in Catholic tradition, the publication maintains an open, ecumenical posture, inviting contributors from diverse backgrounds to explore the intersections of religion, social justice, and everyday life. The platform publishes personal essays, reported features, interviews, and multimedia content that prioritize honest inquiry over doctrinal assertion.

Writers should familiarize themselves with Busted Halo’s tone—conversational yet thoughtful, avoiding both polemic and piety. Pitches should articulate a clear angle on a topic related to faith, culture, or social issues, with an emphasis on personal narrative or underreported perspectives. The editors value authenticity and a willingness to sit with ambiguity. Include a brief bio and relevant writing samples. Response times vary; follow up politely after two weeks if you haven’t heard back.
