About the magazine

Clockwise Cat is an online literary and arts journal founded in 2007 by Alison Ross. From its inception, the publication has operated as a counterpoint to mainstream literary reviews, favoring work that is politically charged, experimentally inclined, and unafraid of raw emotion. Its pages have consistently featured poetry, flash fiction, and visual art that challenge neoliberal orthodoxy, environmental degradation, and social complacency, often through a lens of surrealism or direct address. The journal’s ethos is one of urgent, accessible provocation—less a gatekeeper than a megaphone for dissident voices.

Editorial focus

Clockwise Cat: The Dada Verse is a seasonal literary webzine that heavily features prose poetry and visual art. Line-break poetry submissions are also accepted . Clockwise Cat prefers to receive poems that are in some way akin to the Surrealist, Symbolist, Dadaist, Beat, spoken word, avant-garde and experimental genres. However, editors will regard all well-crafted submissions that brashly flout conventions.
