About the magazine

Club Plum Literary Journal is an independent online publication founded in 2019 by a small collective of writers and artists seeking a space for work that resists easy categorization. From its inception, the journal has prioritized the hybrid and the interstitial—texts that blur the boundaries between poetry, prose, and visual art, as well as standalone images that carry their own narrative weight. Its mission is not to champion a particular school or aesthetic but to cultivate a discerning readership for work that is formally restless and emotionally precise. Each quarterly issue is curated with an eye toward conversation between pieces, so that the journal reads as a cohesive gallery rather than a miscellany.

Editorial focus

Club Plum publishes creative nonfiction, flash fiction, prose poetry, and art that often straddles realities without losing clarity or emotion. Powerful, single-reality pieces are loved, too.

Unsolicited submissionsYes

Club Plum accepts submissions year-round via Submittable, with no reading fee for standard submissions. The editors recommend reading at least two recent issues before submitting, as the journal's taste leans toward the spare, the strange, and the visually aware. For text submissions, send up to five poems or one prose piece under 2,000 words; for hybrid work, a single PDF or DOCX that preserves any visual layout is preferred. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please withdraw promptly if accepted elsewhere. Response times typically range from four to eight weeks, and the editors often provide brief, constructive notes even on rejections—so a cover letter that situates your work within the journal's aesthetic, rather than listing credentials, is more likely to be remembered.

Please adhere to the simple submission guidelines. Words that describe accepted pieces: surreal, lyrical, tight, strange, beautiful, melancholy, profound.
