About the magazine

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is a non-profit organization that supports the production of Canadian content across audiovisual media. Established in 2010 through the merger of the Canadian Television Fund and the Canada New Media Fund, the CMF administers funding programs on behalf of the Government of Canada and the Canadian cable and satellite industries. Its Diverse Languages Program specifically aims to support productions in languages other than English or French, reflecting Canada's linguistic diversity. The program encourages authentic storytelling from diverse cultural communities, with a focus on projects that have the potential to reach audiences both in Canada and internationally.

Applicants should carefully review the program guidelines to ensure eligibility, particularly regarding language requirements and Canadian content certification. Projects must be produced by Canadian-controlled companies and have a clear plan for distribution and audience engagement. It is advisable to consult with CMF program administrators before applying to clarify any questions. The application process is rigorous, requiring detailed budgets, financing plans, and creative materials. Demonstrating a strong connection to the target language community and a track record of the key creatives can strengthen the application. Deadlines are strictly enforced, so early preparation is recommended.
