About the magazine

Counterclaim Review is an online literary and arts journal founded in 2020 by a collective of writers and artists seeking to create a space for work that engages with the political and social urgencies of the present. The journal publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art that challenges dominant narratives and explores themes of resistance, identity, and justice. Its founding ethos is rooted in the belief that art and literature are vital tools for critique and imagining alternative futures. The journal operates with a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, featuring both emerging and established voices from diverse backgrounds. Each issue is curated around a thematic prompt, though submissions are also accepted on a rolling basis. Counterclaim Review has quickly gained recognition for its sharp editorial eye and its dedication to publishing work that is both aesthetically rigorous and politically engaged.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter that contextualizes your submission within the journal's themes.
