About the magazine

The Crowder Quill is an annual literary and art contest hosted by Crowder College, a community college in Neosho, Missouri. Founded to encourage creative expression within the college and surrounding region, the contest has grown into a respected outlet for emerging writers and artists. Its mission is to provide a platform for voices that might otherwise go unheard, fostering a supportive environment where experimentation and craft are equally valued. The Quill publishes a yearly anthology of selected works, celebrating a broad range of styles and perspectives.

Submitting your work

Reading periodOpen now

Submit your best work, but don't be intimidated by the contest format. The Quill values authentic voices and careful craft over trendiness. Read past anthologies if possible to understand the range of accepted work. Follow the guidelines closely—deadlines are firm, and submissions are typically accepted in the spring. Simultaneous submissions are generally allowed, but notify promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. This is a supportive entry point for emerging artists, so take the risk and send your work.
