About the magazine

eMerge Magazine is an independent online publication dedicated to contemporary poetry, short fiction, and hybrid texts. Founded in 2018 by a collective of writers and editors, it emerged from a desire to create a space for work that defies easy categorization—pieces that blur the boundaries between genres, embrace formal experimentation, and prioritize linguistic risk. The magazine operates without institutional backing, relying on a volunteer editorial team and a commitment to paying contributors when funds allow. Its mission is to champion emerging and underrepresented voices alongside established writers, fostering a community that values craft, curiosity, and generous critical engagement.

Editorial focus

eMerge Online Literary Magazine seeks avant-garde poetry and short fiction that pushes boundaries. eMerge values works that prompt readers to perceive aspects of humanity in novel and enlightening ways, encouraging a fresh perspective on life. No specific themes or styles are mandated; eMerge will prioritize the significance of your message.

They welcome simultaneous submissions but ask that you notify them immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Use the online submission portal and include a brief third-person bio. Response times vary from two to six months; please query only after six months. They appreciate cover letters that are concise and specific about why your work fits eMerge. Payment is offered when funding permits, and all contributors receive a digital copy.

Do not be boring! Please capture our attention. We adore diversity in writing, whether you are just beginning your writing experience or you are a well-established writer. We will consider previously published work if it fits with our mission. So please provoke us, generate some emotion, and make us think about humanity in a new way with fresh insights or doubts about the human experience.
