About the magazine

From Whispers to Roars is an independent literary and arts platform founded on the belief that emerging voices deserve a serious, unpretentious venue. Operating primarily as an online magazine with periodic print anthologies, it has cultivated a reputation for publishing work that balances raw emotional honesty with formal care. Its mission is to bridge the gap between whispered intimacies and roaring declarations, offering a space where writers and artists can test risky material without the pressure of commercial trends.

Editorial focus

From Whispers to Roars was founded on that idea that even the quietest voices can roar: the story you’ve been hiding in a journal, afraid to share; the poems that have been stacking up on your bedside table; the weirdest thing you’ve ever written. They want to read them all. Since 2018, they’ve provided writers and artists with publishing opportunities, both online and in print. Lastly, they donate a portion of proceeds from every issue to a literary 501(c)(3) so that they can help continue to spread the love of the arts to new communities.

Read at least two recent issues before submitting. The editors favor work that feels personally urgent yet polished—avoid overly abstract or purely conceptual pieces. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Include a brief, non-promotional bio. For visual art, submit high-resolution images with a clear inventory list. Response times typically range from two to six weeks; query only after eight weeks.
