About the magazine

Gigantic Sequins is an independent, bi-annual literary and arts journal founded in 1999 by a collective of writers and artists. From its inception, the journal has been dedicated to publishing work that is formally adventurous, emotionally resonant, and unafraid of the strange. Its mission is to provide a vibrant, unpretentious home for poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art that might be overlooked by more conventional venues. Over two decades, it has maintained a commitment to handcrafted production and a curatorial vision that balances emerging voices with established ones.

Editorial focus

Gigantic Sequins is print-based and annual. Its black and white journal is known for its quality writing and its unique design/aesthetic. It accepts work from unpublished writers in addition to those who have an already established voice. It enjoys publishing writers who have their hands in various sorts of figurative creative cookie jars. It is interested in cultivating an artistic community over a widespread area through their uniquely designed journal and are known for promoting its past as well as its current contributors’ achievements.

Before submitting, read at least one recent issue to understand the journal's aesthetic range. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask for immediate notification upon acceptance elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with your submission, and note that they appreciate work that takes risks. Response times vary, so query after three months if you haven't heard back. They welcome submissions from underrepresented voices.
