Grand Little Things caters to formalistic, stylized poetry, but is also welcome to invented/nonce forms as well.
Submitting your work
Read several recent issues before submitting to understand the journal's tonal range—it favors understatement and specificity over grand gestures. Send only your most polished short work; the editors are known to reject pieces that feel padded or performative. Simultaneous submissions are generally acceptable, but notify promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Expect a response time of several weeks to a few months, and avoid querying before that window has passed.
Heck, as long as there is a strong sense of versification it will be considered. (Does the poem sing? Is the imagery vivid and does it serve a purpose? Does the poem have meaning? Or does it do away with such concepts?) However, GLT is not the best place for experimental poetry. Please send in two to three poems instead of just one (when possible). Understand the differences between prose and verse.
