About the magazine

Green Blotter is the literary and arts journal of Lebanon Valley College, a small liberal arts institution in Annville, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1986, it has served for decades as a student-run publication that showcases poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art from both the campus community and beyond. Its founding ethos is rooted in the belief that literary expression thrives in a supportive, educational environment, and that emerging voices deserve a serious platform. The journal is overseen by student editors under faculty advisement, and it maintains a commitment to accessible, carefully curated issues that reflect a range of aesthetic sensibilities rather than a single house style.

Writers and artists should approach Green Blotter with the understanding that it is a student-edited campus publication. Read several past issues if available to gauge the range of work they publish, which tends to favor clear, accessible writing over highly experimental forms. Submissions are typically open during the academic year, and response times may be slower than professional journals. Simultaneous submissions are often accepted, but notify the editors promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Since the journal has a strong educational mission, emerging writers and artists are especially encouraged, and polite inquiries about the status of a submission are generally welcome.

Please follow all submissions guidelines on the website, especially the format for presenting your name, title, and genre information. Submissions that do not follow the guidelines will not be reviewed.
