Editorial focus
HAUNTER Review was born as a tribute to the shadowed community of horror and alternative writers, those who craft stories from the edges of the dark. HAUNTER Review welcomes short stories, flash fiction, microfiction, screenplays, poetry, prose, hybrid, and experimental works categorized under the broad umbrella of horror-related genres: psychological, gothic, slasher, body, supernatural. Whether it be a supernatural haunting or vengeful murder spree, the editors want to see how far your imagination spirals; perhaps HAUNTER Review can give it a home.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, familiarize yourself with the thematic focus of the upcoming issue—for the Fall Issue, 'sublimal' suggests work that operates below the threshold of conscious perception, evoking subtle unease or dreamlike ambiguity. Avoid straightforward genre pieces or conventional narrative arcs; instead, prioritize atmosphere, suggestion, and linguistic precision. Since HAUNTER Review is online-only, ensure your submission is formatted for digital reading, with clean typography and minimal reliance on print-specific layout. Simultaneous submissions are generally acceptable, but withdraw promptly if accepted elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter that articulates how your work engages with the issue's theme, and proofread meticulously—the review values craft and attention to detail. Response times may vary, so query politely after three months if you have not heard back.
