Editorial focus
Invisible City publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. They seek work that encourages them to see the world from new perspectives and different angles, ones that they may not have previously considered or imagined.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, read several pieces from the current or recent issues to understand the editorial sensibility: work that is attentive to language, comfortable with ambiguity, and unafraid of slowness. Invisible City favors submissions that demonstrate a clear sense of form and a willingness to take risks without relying on shock. Follow the guidelines precisely—simultaneous submissions are typically accepted, but notify immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Include a brief, factual cover letter; there is no need for extensive bio or flattery. Response times can be long, so patience is part of the process. If rejected, consider it a reflection of fit rather than quality, and feel free to submit again in a future reading period.
Invisible City accept pieces that have not been previously published. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, although please inform us if you have sent your piece elsewhere. We will accept up to three poems per writer or one fiction or nonfiction submission per writer. Please check the website for the most up-to-date submission information.
