About the magazine

The Bloomberg American Health Initiative, housed at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, was established in 2016 with a landmark gift from Michael R. Bloomberg. Its founding ethos is rooted in the conviction that evidence-based public health can address the most pressing health challenges facing the United States. The Initiative focuses on five critical areas: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, adolescent health, and violence. Through its fellowship program, it supports a new generation of public health leaders who are committed to translating research into policy and practice. The program is distinguished by its rigorous academic grounding and its emphasis on real-world impact, preparing fellows to tackle complex health problems with scientific rigor and practical ingenuity.
