About the magazine

Lines + Stars is a literary press and journal rooted in the Mid-Atlantic region, with a particular emphasis on Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Founded to foster a community of writers and readers, it publishes poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction through its journal and chapbook series. The press is known for its commitment to regional voices while maintaining a national scope, and for its carefully curated, aesthetically driven publications that balance accessibility with literary merit.

Editorial focus

Lines + Stars began in 2006 as a means of establishing a new creative forum in Washington, D.C., a city that all-too-often coasts on its more mechanistic pursuits. As of 2017, they operate out of Baltimore, Maryland. L+S Press, their chapbook-publishing arm, publishes an emerging poet’s first collection annually. L+S Press also publishes best-of anthologies, broadsides, and other projects, and hosts the Big Light Reading Series in Baltimore.
