About the magazine

The London Writers Centre is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting writers at all stages of their careers. Founded in 2015, it emerged from a collective of authors and editors seeking to provide affordable, high-quality literary development outside of traditional academic or commercial channels. The Centre operates on the belief that rigorous, sustained attention to craft—rather than networking or marketability—is the surest path to meaningful literary work. Its core mission is to foster a diverse community of writers through workshops, mentorship, and public readings, with a particular emphasis on those who might otherwise lack access to such resources.

Submitting your work

Reading periodCloses tomorrow

Applicants should approach the Centre with a clear sense of their own literary project and a willingness to engage in reciprocal critique. The Free Reads programme is competitive; submit only your strongest work, polished to the best of your ability, and adhere strictly to genre and length guidelines. A concise, unadorned cover letter that situates your work within a literary tradition—rather than a marketing pitch—is appreciated. The Centre values honesty and craft over credentials, so emerging writers are encouraged to apply alongside more established voices.
