Editorial focus
Founded in 1997, the Long River Review is an annual journal of literature and art staffed by undergraduates at the University of Connecticut. Today, Long River Review is dedicated to championing the best work from emerging writers and artists around the globe in its annual print journal.
Submitting your work
Submit during the annual reading period, typically open from fall through early spring. Read several past issues online to understand the journal's aesthetic range—it favors precise, image-driven work over trend-driven or overly conceptual pieces. Simultaneous submissions are accepted with prompt notification, and the editors appreciate a brief cover letter that situates your work without over-explaining it. Expect a response within three to five months; if you haven't heard back by then, a polite query is appropriate. The journal does not charge submission fees, and it nominates for Pushcart and other prizes, so include prior publications if relevant.
