About the magazine
Midsummer Dream House is an artist-run residency and exhibition space founded in 2016 in a converted 19th-century farmhouse in the Hudson Valley. Its founding ethos centers on slowness, material inquiry, and the conviction that meaningful art emerges from sustained attention rather than accelerated production. The organization offers two- to six-week residencies each summer, culminating in open studios and a modest publication. Core mission: to provide unpressured time and critical community for artists working across disciplines, with a particular interest in practices that engage with landscape, craft, and ecological thought.
Editorial focus
Midsummer Dream House is an independent publisher that began near the beach in 2023 in San Diego, California. We publish a wide variety of artistic work, including the experimental and avant-garde.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with a priority deadline of February 1 for summer residencies. Submit a concise project proposal (max 500 words), 10-15 work samples, and a CV. The selection committee values clarity of intent over polished presentation; avoid overly conceptual language. There is no application fee, but residents are responsible for travel and a modest materials stipend. Inquiries are best directed via email rather than social media.
