About the magazine

Moonday Mag is an independent online literary and arts magazine founded in 2020. Its name evokes a lunar cycle—a quiet, cyclical rhythm that resists the frantic pace of contemporary digital publishing. The magazine publishes poetry, short fiction, and visual art on a rolling basis, with a particular interest in work that is formally restless and emotionally precise. Rather than chasing trends, Moonday Mag cultivates a space for writing that feels necessary: spare, strange, and attentive to the textures of inner life. The editorial ethos is one of slow reading and careful curation, favoring work that rewards re-reading over work that announces its intentions too loudly.

Editorial focus

Moonday Mag is a quarterly, speculative art, and literary magazine dedicated to celebrating all things fantastic and fantastically strange. Born in the place that rests between here and the uncanny valley, Moonday Mag wonders what else might be out there, beyond the veil. From science fiction to fantasy to magical realism to the witching hour caught on camera in 35mm— Moonday Mag wants it all and welcomes all.

Read at least two full issues before submitting. Moonday Mag favors work that is concise, image-driven, and willing to take formal risks without becoming obscure. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief third-person bio and a note about any prior publications, though previous credits are not a prerequisite. The editors appreciate cover letters that are direct and free of flattery. Response times vary, but expect several weeks to a few months; a polite query after three months is acceptable. Do not send more than five poems or one short story at a time.
