About the magazine

New Feathers Anthology is an independent literary and arts publication founded in 2019 by a collective of writers and artists seeking to create a space for work that is both formally adventurous and emotionally resonant. Rejecting the dichotomy between experimental and accessible, the anthology publishes poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art that demonstrates a keen awareness of craft and a willingness to take risks. Its core mission is to foster a community of emerging and established voices, offering a platform where the new and the timeless can converse. Each annual print edition is complemented by an online presence that features interviews, craft essays, and supplementary material, reinforcing the anthology's commitment to contextualizing the work it presents.

Editorial focus

New Feathers Anthology wants to promote art and artists. They are interested in art from many genres that pushes the envelope a bit. They produce three online issues and a print anthology at the end of the year that collects the works from the previous year. All contributors will get a copy of the print anthology.

Writers and artists should first familiarize themselves with the anthology's aesthetic by reading past issues, available online and in print. Submissions are typically open for a defined reading period each year; check the website for exact dates. The editors value work that is polished but not sterile, and they appreciate a brief cover letter that contextualizes the submission without over-explaining. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify promptly if the work is placed elsewhere. Visual art submissions should include a link to a portfolio or low-resolution images for initial review. Above all, trust the work: the anthology seeks pieces that surprise, move, or unsettle in equal measure.

Read our previous editions to get an idea of what we publish. We have three reading periods: February 1 to March 1, June 1 to July 1, and October 1 to November 1, for the three different issues.
