Editorial focus
The pacificREVIEW is an annual review of prose, poetry, and artwork on a given theme, published in affiliation with San Diego State University Press. For 2025–26, their coeditors are Lola Schroeder & Nathan Nguyen. The 2025–26 edition of pacREV will be like the 2023 edition—an all–graphic narrative / comix edition.
Submitting your work
Artists and writers should submit work that resonates with the journal's West Coast focus, though submissions are not strictly limited to regional themes. The editors appreciate writing and art that demonstrate a strong sense of craft, originality, and engagement with contemporary issues. Before submitting, review past issues to understand the journal's aesthetic range, which spans from traditional to experimental. Follow the submission guidelines on the website carefully, including deadlines and formatting requirements. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify the editors promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Response times can vary, so patience is advised.
The pacificREVIEW welcomes for consideration previously unpublished (simultaneous submissions are okay but please notify of selection right away) poems, short stories, translations, and creative non-fiction, including essays and reviews. We also consider photography, art, comics and all kinds of illustrations. No AI-laced or derived stuff, please. Creatives have it hard as it is without that miasma in the mix.
