Editorial focus
Paper Dragon is the Drexel MFA literary journal dedicated to publishing short stories, creative nonfiction, poetry and artwork that resonates with contemporary readers. Paper Dragon seeks work that challenges readers to see the human experience in new and honest ways through both established and emerging voices.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, carefully review recent issues to understand the journal's aesthetic range and editorial preferences. Paper Dragon values work that demonstrates both craft and a distinctive voice, so avoid generic or overly familiar themes. Follow submission guidelines precisely, including formatting and genre-specific requirements, as the editorial team appreciates professionalism. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Response times can vary, so patience is advised; if you haven't heard back within the stated period, a polite query is acceptable. Most importantly, read the journal—it's the best way to gauge whether your work aligns with their curatorial sensibilities.
Please review our editors’ preferences and submission guidelines on our website for information on how to submit in each genre.
