About the magazine

The Passionfruit Review is an independent online literary and arts journal founded in 2019. It was established with the conviction that contemporary creative work thrives when given a platform that prioritizes curiosity over convention. The journal publishes poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art on a rolling basis, with issues released periodically. Its mission is to showcase emerging and underrepresented voices alongside more established artists, fostering a community that values experimentation, emotional precision, and intellectual risk. Each issue is curated to create a cohesive reading experience, often orbiting around loose thematic undercurrents without imposing strict constraints on contributors.

Editorial focus

Passionfruit is an online journal for work that engages with love in the broadest possible sense: writing which seeks love out or runs screaming from it; which delights in, is bored of, resents, yearns for, abhors, or denies love.

Before submitting, read at least one full issue to understand the journal's range and tone. The editors appreciate work that is polished but not overworked, and they favor submissions that demonstrate a clear voice and a sense of intentionality. Follow the guidelines on the website precisely: use the specified submission periods, include a brief bio, and send only the requested number of pieces. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Response times can vary, so patience is advised. The Passionfruit Review values contributors who engage with the journal as readers, not just as submitters.

Every issue will be primarily devoted to love poetry, although there is always space for short fiction and other creative pieces.
