Editorial focus
Poetries in English Magazine distinguishes itself from other prestigious literary journals by its nonconformist approach to literatures in English. Each fortnight, it publishes a magazine that is unafraid, iconoclastic, but intelligent. It seeks poetry, fiction, and essays that take risks for sophisticated, urban readers.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, carefully read the magazine's submission guidelines on its website, noting reading periods and any thematic calls. Submit 3-5 poems in a single file, with a brief cover letter that includes your publication history, if any. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify the editors promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Expect response times of 1-3 months; if you haven't heard back after that, a polite query is acceptable. The editors appreciate poems that are polished, evocative, and free of clichés, and they value diverse perspectives.
We are open to all styles and aesthetics. We are not prudish or puritanical. Our only criterion is quality.
