About the magazine

Poetry Quarterly is a digital literary journal founded in 2015 with the conviction that poetry thrives in the open exchange of a global community. Operating entirely online, it publishes four issues a year, each featuring a mix of established and emerging voices. The journal's mission is to champion work that is formally adventurous and emotionally resonant, without regard to prevailing trends. Its annual Rebecca Lard Award, a $500 prize, exemplifies this commitment by recognizing a single poem of exceptional merit.

Submitting your work

Reading periodOpen now

Poets should submit only previously unpublished work. The editors appreciate poems that demonstrate a clear command of language and a willingness to take formal or emotional risks. For the Rebecca Lard Award, submit a single poem that represents your strongest work; simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify the journal immediately if your poem is accepted elsewhere. Response times are typically 4-6 weeks.
