About the magazine

Polyphony Lit is a student-run literary magazine that publishes poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction by high school students from around the world. Founded in 2004, it operates on the principle that young writers deserve a serious platform for their work and that editorial responsibility itself is a form of literary education. The magazine is produced by an international staff of high school editors, who read submissions, provide feedback, and curate each issue under the guidance of adult mentors. Its core mission is twofold: to amplify emerging voices and to train the next generation of editors, critics, and literary citizens.

Submitting your work

Reading periodOpen now

Polyphony Lit accepts submissions from high school students only. Work should be original, polished, and demonstrate a genuine engagement with craft. The editors appreciate writing that takes risks and shows a distinct perspective, but they also value clarity and emotional resonance. Before submitting, read past issues to understand the magazine's aesthetic range. For contests, follow theme prompts closely and adhere to word limits. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Expect thoughtful feedback if you request it, and remember that the editors are your peers—treat the process as a dialogue, not a verdict.
