Editorial focus
Ponder Review seeks stories that challenge, stories that shift their view, ignite their imaginations, spark conversations, and linger with them long after their eyes leave the page. They invite you to explore, expound, and inspire through short plays, fiction, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, new media, and visual art.
Submitting your work
Ponder Review welcomes submissions from writers and artists at all stages of their careers. Before submitting, carefully review the journal's current guidelines on its website, as reading periods and genre-specific calls (e.g., for short plays) may vary. Work should be previously unpublished and submitted through the designated portal. The editors appreciate cover letters that are brief and professional, and they value writing that demonstrates a clear sense of voice and revision. Response times can range from several weeks to a few months, so patience is advised. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted with prompt notification of acceptance elsewhere. As a teaching journal, feedback is not guaranteed, but the editorial process is designed to be respectful and thorough.
Required format: Times New Roman 12 point font. All prose should be double-spaced. Poetry should be single-spaced. Drama should follow standard play manuscript formatting. Ponder Review does not accept previously published material nor does it accept multiple submissions per issue. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but contact Ponder Review if your work has been accepted elsewhere.
