About the magazine

Recenter Press Poetry Journal is an independent literary publication founded with the aim of fostering a contemplative and inclusive space for contemporary poetry. Rooted in a commitment to craft and emotional precision, the journal seeks to publish work that re-centers the reader's attention on the nuances of language and lived experience. Its editorial vision emphasizes poems that are both intellectually rigorous and accessible, often featuring voices that explore the intersections of identity, place, and memory.

Editorial focus

Recenter Press was founded in June 2017 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and moved home to the Bay Area in May 2023. Works published speak to workers’ rights and experiences, LGBTQ and racial justice, recovery and mysticism, and interdependence with each other and the natural world.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with your publication history, if any, and a short bio. Response times vary, but generally range from 4 to 8 weeks. They welcome submissions from both new and experienced poets.
