About the magazine

Same Faces Collective is an artist-run initiative founded in 2018 by a group of graduates from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It emerged as a response to the lack of sustained critical dialogue and exhibition opportunities for emerging artists outside traditional gallery and museum structures. The collective operates a project space in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood and publishes a biannual journal of art and writing. Its core mission is to foster a community of mutual support and rigorous feedback, prioritizing process over product and long-term development over careerist networking. By maintaining a non-hierarchical, peer-driven model, Same Faces Collective aims to democratize access to resources and visibility for artists at critical early stages of their practice.
