Editorial focus
Sequestrum publishes new, emerging, and internationally acclaimed writers of short fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and cross-genre. All publications are paired with a unique visual component with the goal of fostering and exposing writers to a large, literary audience.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, read at least one full issue to understand the journal's aesthetic range and editorial sensibility. Sequestrum values work that is polished, resonant, and willing to take risks with form or perspective. For themed calls, avoid literal or didactic interpretations; instead, consider how the theme might be refracted through specific, lived experience. Follow submission guidelines precisely—simultaneous submissions are typically accepted with prompt notification of acceptance elsewhere. Expect a response time of several weeks to a few months; query politely if beyond the stated window. Include a brief, professional cover letter that situates your work without over-explaining it.
We seek innovative literature with an honest voice that grows from a vision and passion for craft. We seek concise, evocative writing without regard to any particular school of poetry or fiction. Visit our archives for an idea of editorial focus. Successful writers are prolific readers.
