Editorial focus
SLAB seeks on-the-cusp, funky, experimental, and literary fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, translations, and text-based art. Publishing everything from micro flash pieces to novel excerpts and everything in between, in all genres. All submissions read by humans with nary an AI program in sight.
Submitting your work
Writers should familiarize themselves with recent issues to understand SLAB's preference for work that is formally adventurous, emotionally resonant, and resistant to cliché. Submissions are typically read during specific windows, so check the website for current guidelines. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify the editors promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with your publication history, if any, and proofread carefully—SLAB values craft and attention to detail. Response times can vary, so patience is advised.
Pleas read our back issues to see the kinds of work we are seeking. Review the contest requirements each year as the genre and judge occasionally change. Send us your top-drawer, weird, and funky writing.
