About the magazine

Stone Circle Review is an online literary and arts journal founded in 2018 with the aim of fostering a contemplative, craft-centered space for poetry, short fiction, and visual art. Rooted in the ethos of slow attention, the journal publishes quarterly issues that prioritize work demonstrating formal precision, emotional restraint, and a willingness to engage with silence and negative space. Its editorial vision resists the frenetic pace of digital culture, instead offering a platform for voices that reward rereading and sustained reflection.

Stone Circle Review intends to: Share poems that re-enchant the ordinary, that know what the rational world has explained away Seek poetry from the most diverse a group of poets possible Publish on a website designed to foreground the poem on the page Make it as easy as possible for poets to submit their work

Before submitting, read at least two full issues to understand the journal's tonal and formal preferences. They favor work that is understated, image-driven, and structurally deliberate; avoid overt polemic, genre tropes, or excessive length. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with your submission, and expect response times of 4–6 months. They do not charge reading fees for standard submissions.

In lieu of a single, succinct description of the sort of work Stone Circle Review is looking for, a collection of quotes about poetry that we believe to be true is available on our About page.
