About the magazine

Stowe Story Labs, based in the Green Mountains of Vermont, was founded in 2013 to support emerging screenwriters and filmmakers through intensive narrative development. Its ethos is rooted in the belief that well-crafted stories can shift perspectives and effect change—hence the motto 'bending the world through story.' The Labs offer a rigorous yet nurturing environment where writers refine their projects with guidance from established industry mentors, focusing on both artistic integrity and practical production strategies.

Submitting your work

Reading periodOpen now

Applicants should submit a complete draft of their narrative feature or TV pilot, as the Labs emphasize revision and polish. A compelling personal statement that articulates how the story aligns with Stowe's mission of social impact is crucial. While prior production experience is not required, a clear understanding of story structure and character development is expected. Financial support applications require a detailed budget and a demonstrated need. Deadlines are typically in early spring for summer labs; early submission is advised as spots are limited.
