About the magazine

Sunspot Literary Journal is an independent literary and arts publication founded in 2018 by Laine Cunningham. It operates on a global scale, seeking work that illuminates the human experience through diverse voices and forms. The journal publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, art, and photography, with a particular interest in underrepresented perspectives. Its mission is to provide a platform for both emerging and established creators, fostering a community that values artistic risk and emotional resonance.

Editorial focus

Since launching in January of 2019, Sunspot Literary Journal has amplified diverse multinational voices. Boundaries that exclude meaningful and important works have been broken by accepting extremely long-form pieces, a rarity in publishing today. No limits on genre, category or theme; the journal has published meaningful children’s stories, interviews, science fiction, mixed-genre works, and more.
