About the magazine

Three Panels Press is an independent publisher and curatorial project founded in 2018 by a collective of writers, artists, and designers. Taking its name from the triptych form, the press approaches publishing as a spatial and sequential art—each book, zine, or broadside conceived as a three-part encounter between text, image, and reader. Its core mission is to champion work that resists easy categorization, with a particular emphasis on hybrid literature, visual poetry, and artists' books that interrogate the materiality of the page. Operating at the intersection of small-press publishing and contemporary art, Three Panels Press functions as both a producer and a platform, organizing readings, exhibitions, and collaborative residencies that extend its editorial vision into physical and social space.

Editorial focus

Three Panels Press is a vibrant magazine that carves a unique niche at the intersection of art history and ekphrastic poetry. The publication is a celebration of creativity, offering a platform where the visual and the verbal coexist and converse. By focusing on the rich dialogue between art and literature, the editors aim to foster a deeper appreciation of both forms.

Three Panels Press accepts submissions through periodic open calls, typically announced on its website and social channels. Artists and writers should approach the press with a clear sense of how their project engages the book as a form—whether through sequence, material intervention, or the interplay of text and image. Proposals should include a concise project description, a statement of intent, and representative work samples (PDF or link to an online portfolio). Given the press's emphasis on the triptych structure, applicants are encouraged to articulate how their work might unfold across three movements, sections, or panels. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please note if the work is under consideration elsewhere. Response times vary; a follow-up after eight weeks is appropriate. The press does not charge submission fees for general open calls.
