Editorial focus
Valley Voices is located in the heartland of the Mississippi Delta. It features fiction, poetry, interviews, and criticism from writers and scholars anywhere, though they hope to see more creative work about the South.
Submitting your work
Writers should review the submission guidelines on the journal's blog, which typically open for specific reading periods. Submissions are generally accepted via email, and simultaneous submissions are often permitted with prompt notification of acceptance elsewhere. The editors appreciate concise, well-crafted work that demonstrates a clear voice and attention to language. Given the journal's modest resources, response times may vary, and writers are encouraged to be patient and to follow the stated guidelines closely.
Valley Voices considers no more than five poems, one essay or one creative nonfiction or story of no more than 2,500 words, or one scholarly article of up to 5,000 words. Read an issue before submission. Please submit your work to [email protected] during our reading periods.
