About the magazine

The W.B. Yeats Society of New York is a literary organization dedicated to fostering the appreciation and study of the poetry and drama of William Butler Yeats, as well as the broader Irish literary tradition. Founded in 1958, it has served as a cultural bridge between Ireland and the United States, hosting readings, lectures, and educational programs that illuminate Yeats's work and its enduring relevance. The Society's flagship initiative, the Yeats Poetry Prize, is awarded annually to a poet of exceptional merit, celebrating the craft and spirit of Yeatsian verse.

Poets considering the Yeats Poetry Prize should submit work that demonstrates a command of form, musicality, and depth of feeling, in keeping with Yeats's legacy. While the Society does not impose strict thematic constraints, it favors poems that exhibit technical skill and emotional resonance. Carefully review submission guidelines for deadlines and formatting; simultaneous submissions are typically discouraged. The Society values clarity and originality, so avoid pastiche and instead offer a distinct voice that honors the tradition while speaking to contemporary concerns.
