So to Speak: POETRY Print Issue
Overview
So to Speak is a journal grounded in intersectional feminist practice, understanding that systems and identities do not operate uniformly. The editors seek poetry that aligns with this perspective, challenging form and language while exploring new landscapes and embodied truths. The journal's commitment to lifelong learning and open acknowledgment of disparate experiences shapes its curatorial vision. The print issue will feature poems that engage, challenge, and surprise, particularly those tackling multiple intersections of race, class, ability, sexuality, and gender identity. The editors express a current affinity for poets such as Claudia Rankine, Layli Long-Soldier, Mary Szybist, Don Mee Choi, Louise Glück, Sylvia Plath, and Mary Oliver, indicating a taste for work that is both formally rigorous and emotionally resonant. Contributors whose work is selected will receive a $100 prize. The submission requires a single document with up to five poems, not exceeding ten pages, along with a cover letter. There is a $4.00 fee to submit. The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2026.
